Exploring Eureka Springs and Missouri: A Scenic and Spooky Adventure
At Cline & Co, we love a good getaway, especially when it involves charming towns, stunning nature, and a little bit of the unexpected. Our recent trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and Missouri was the perfect mix of history, adventure, and delicious food—plus a touch of the supernatural! If you're looking for a weekend escape, here’s a peek into our experience and some tips for making the most of your trip.
Shopping and Working Bunnies in Downtown Eureka Springs
Eureka Springs is known for its quirky charm, and its downtown shopping scene did not disappoint. We spent hours wandering through the unique boutiques, galleries, and specialty stores, finding everything from handmade crafts to vintage treasures. One of the highlights? The working bunnies! This adorable addition to one of the local shops made the experience even more memorable—because who doesn’t love a bunny helping out at checkout?
Thorncrown Chapel: A Dream Wedding Venue
No trip to Eureka Springs is complete without a visit to the breathtaking Thorncrown Chapel. Tucked away in the woods, this architectural gem is made almost entirely of glass, allowing nature to become part of the experience. It’s a popular wedding venue, and we can see why! If you’re considering Thorncrown (or any venue) for your big day, here are a few tips:
Consider the season: The chapel’s floor-to-ceiling windows offer stunning views, but fall foliage or spring blooms can enhance the experience.
Check the guest capacity: Thorncrown is intimate, so make sure it fits your vision.
Plan for accessibility: The chapel is in a natural setting, so consider transportation and parking for your guests.
A Haunted History at the Crescent Hotel
For those who love a little thrill, the Crescent Hotel is a must-see. Known as one of the most haunted hotels in America, it has a long and eerie history. We explored its grand hallways and even snapped a few haunting photos—some of which might just make you believe in ghosts! Whether you stay overnight for the full haunted experience or just take the ghost tour, the Crescent is a fascinating piece of history with plenty of stories to tell.
Dinner at Local Flavor – Don’t Skip the Baked Brie!
After a day of sightseeing, we indulged in an incredible meal at Local Flavor. This cozy spot is a must-visit for food lovers, and we can’t recommend the baked brie enough! Rich, creamy, and served with the perfect accompaniments, it was easily one of the best bites of the trip. If you’re dining in Eureka Springs, put this place on your list.
A Relaxing Lake Stay and Exploring Dogwood Canyon Nature Park
From Eureka Springs, we made our way to Missouri, where we stayed on a peaceful lake, spending our days fishing and soaking in the tranquility. Our adventure continued at Dogwood Canyon Nature Park, a stunning destination for outdoor enthusiasts. We hiked the beautiful trails, fished (though bites were minimal!), and enjoyed a meal at the on-site restaurant. While the fishing fees were on the pricier side, the park’s breathtaking scenery made it worth the visit.
Final Thoughts
Eureka Springs and Missouri offered the perfect combination of relaxation, adventure, and charm. Whether you’re looking for unique shopping, a romantic wedding venue, haunted history, or outdoor beauty, this region has something for everyone. We left with full hearts (and stomachs)!
